on partnering

on partnering

Someone asked me the other day what I mean when I use the word partner... when we refer to partnering with spaces or your body or others – it’s a commitment. It requires something of you, daily desire, practice, a willingness to deeply listen and to be influenced by something outside of yourself...

a life... the end product of a process

a life... the end product of a process

I was reading a bit about the process of creating a canoe from a tree in the Samoan culture...

"...they cut the tree down; scrape the branches from the trunk take off the bark; hollow the inside out, carve the outside shape of the hull; form the prow and the stern; carve decorations on the prow... Each canoe by this process is different... There is no time lost wondering what kind of canoe ought we to build, what shape to make the hull...  it is visible only as the end product of a process... The maker lets go of his will, and lets the process take over..."
